UVM's Puskarich Named Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week

University of Vermont men's hockey freshman forward Mario Puskarich has been named the Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week. The league announced its weekly award winners on Monday.

Puskarich posted two assists and a plus-2 rating in Vermont's 5-1 win over St. Lawrence on Saturday, helping the Catamounts push their winning streak to five games. He is currently riding a five-game point streak with two goals, five assists, 17 shots on goal, and a plus-4 rating in that span.

The Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. native ranks fifth in Hockey East in points per game among rookies, collecting five goals and six assists in just 13 games this year. Puskarich has also tallied four power play goals, which is tied for fourth among Hockey East skaters and second among freshmen. 

The Catamounts (8-5-1, 4-4-0 HEA) return to action on Tuesday (Dec. 17) against No. 16 Northeastern at 7:05 p.m. for their final Hockey East contest of 2013 at Gutterson Fieldhouse. UVM is riding its longest winning streak in five years and faces an NU squad which also boasts a five-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2).
