Vigil Held for Winooski Baby at Center of Death Investigation

Sunday evening, friends and family of 15-month old Peighton Geraw honored his memory.
BURLINGTON, VT- Friends and family of 15-month old Peighton Geraw gathered at a park in Burlington Sunday to honor his memory.

The vigil was held at Battery Park for the Winooski boy who was killed in April.

To date, no one has been arrested in connection to his death. The baby died at the hospital after he stopped breathing at his home. An autopsy report said he died from head and neck trauma.

Dozens came to pay their respects to Peighton by lighting tea lights and reflecting on his short-lived life.

Organizers said the main goal is to bring awareness to child abuse, making sure what happened to Peighton and Dezirae Sheldon never happens again. Dezirae was killed back in February. Her stepfather, Dennis Dube, 31, of Poultney, has been charged with her death.

"We're doing this to give him a good sendoff to give him his voice back which he unfortunately lost, we're trying to get awareness for child abuse," said Megan Webbley, vigil organizer

"If you see something, say something, because Peighton's death could have been prevented," said Nicole Mann, who also attended and helped organize the vigil

People were also asked to donate to Prevent Child Abuse Vermont.
