VT Air National Guard: Chemical Spill Sends 6 to the Hospital

According to the Vermont Air National Guard, a hydrazine spill occurred at the 158th Fighter Wing Friday morning.
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - According to the Vermont Air National Guard, a hydrazine spill occurred at the 158th Fighter Wing Friday morning. The spill happened at around 9:35 a.m.

A press release says some personnel began complaining of symptoms, particularly a bad taste in their mouths. The incident occurred at Hangar 4, during normal maintenance operations.

Six Vermont Air National Guard personnel were given first aid and were transported to Fletcher Allen Health Care via ambulance. The guard says they were transported as a precaution.

Hydrazine is an inorganic compound, it is colorless flammable liquid with an ammonia like odor. Hydrazine fuels the F-16 Emergency Power Unit. The guard says there is no danger to the public.
