WATERBURY, Vt. - Vermont State Police Tactical Services Unit and Crisis Negotiation Unit will be training Thursday at the Charlotte Central School and Burlington Town Center.

A press release says the training will begin in Charlotte Central School at 5:30 p.m. By 9 p.m. the exercise will relocate to the Burlington Town Center for an active shooter scenario. The exercise should be complete by 11 p.m.

"Our objective is to learn how we can coordinate seamlessly with other special teams and agencies in the event of a future emergency" said Captain Rob Evans, Assistant Field Force Commander. "This exercise not only tests our specific training and equipment, but also our ability to solve unexpected problems in an emergency situation."

There will be an increased number of law enforcement vehicles and officers during these training scenarios. Police say while officers may appear to be armed, no live ammunition will be used during the training exercises.
