We're here in Waterbury at the alchemist home of the Heady Topper. So let's go check out ‘What's on Tap?!'
"It's an intensely Hoppy American style IPA" said John Kimmich co-owner and head brewer at the Alchemist "Our philosophy from day one was just to make it as outstanding as possible."
He created the famous Heady Topper IP "I've crafted it to be the kind of beer that I want to drink. We have so many people who say ‘Oh I don't drink IPA and they try and it and something just lights up in their eyes and they love it."
The Alchemist pub has been in existence since 2003 with little to no marketing Kimmich says the name spread all through word of mouth.
"Over the years our popularity grew and word just spread on its own just by having it on tap at the pub
The pub used to sit right in the heart of downtown Waterbury but in August 2011 disaster struck.
"Then Irene came and now this is our only brewery" said Kimmich.
Different location but same tasty brew. This one of a kind beer has made quite a name for itself.
Whether it's the taste or the logo it works and it sells.
"It's very aromatic with tropical fruit there's notes of pine in there from some of the hops we use" said Kimmich.
Cheers to the Alchemist that's what's on tap.
