Winooski Residents on High Alert After Recent Break-ins

A string of recent break-ins has people in Winooski on high alert.
WINOOSKI, Vt. - A string of recent break-ins has people in Winooski on high alert.

The city manager Katherine Decarreau told us police have made a couple of arrests, but the crimes keep happening. So, she posted recommendations on "front porch forum" on how you can help police.

Decarreau says knowing your neighbors can make all the difference.

"These folks are coming in back doors and back windows. All the police patrols in the planet isn't going to stop something that's happening in the backyard because we can't run around backyards. That's where neighbors come into play. That's where you know who's normal in your neighborhood and who's normal at your neighbors house," Decarreau, Winooski City Manager, said.

Decarreau also encourages neighbors to attend city council meetings, and use them as a platform to get the word out on local issues like neighborhood crime.
