The nation's first organic brewery becomes the first in Vermont to get non-GMO certification.
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The nation's first organic brewery becomes the first in Vermont to get non-GMO certification.

A press release says Wolaver's Organic Ales became verified through the The Non-GMO Project, a non-profit organization committed to preserving and building the non-GMOP food supply, educating customers, and providing verified Non-GMO food choices.

“Vermonters are becoming more informed and aware of the food they’re consuming,” Tosha Pope, of Wolaver's Oganic Ales, said. “We’re starting to see that same philosophy applied to their beer choices.”

On May 8, Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin signed the first-in-the-nation GMO labeling law without a trigger clause.
