WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. - A Vermont caregiver was convicted for submitting false timesheets.
A press release says Michelle Pearce, 35, of Winooski, Vt., submitted false timesheets in order to receive payments for a child with special needs enrolled in the Children's Personal Care Services program. The program is part of the Vermont Medicaid program.
The child was in school during the time Pearce billed the state medicaid program for her services.
Pearce was sentenced to two to four years in jail, two years probation, and 100 hours of community service. She was also ordered to pay $14,265 in restitution to the Vermont Medicaid program.
