FEMA is collecting toys for Vermont's less fortunate children.
WILLISTON, Vt. - FEMA is collecting toys for Vermont's less fortunate children.

A press release says as part of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, FEMA staff members are collecting new toys to be given to children on Christmas.

“Some FEMA staffers have been in Vermont since before Tropical Storm Irene,” said Federal Coordinating Officer Mark Landry, the head of FEMA’s Vermont operations. “This state has been their home away from home, and the way its people have welcomed us it only seems right to give back in this way.”

Toys are being collected by about 30 FEMA staffers in Williston were delivered to Toys "R" US in Williston. Toys "R" Us is the collection point for FEMA's local campaign.

This is the second holiday season FEMA is collecting toys for children in the area.
