Fairpoint Receives Grant to Expand Broadband in VT

FairPoint Communications, Inc. received a grant of more than $399,000 to expand broadband in Vermont in 2014.
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - FairPoint Communications, Inc. received a grant of more than $399,000 to expand broadband in Vermont in 2014.

According to a press release, the grant will expand broadband services to 60 locations in Bennington, Brattleboro and Wilmington. FairPoint says specific information will be provided when available.

“FairPoint is committed to delivering high-speed broadband services to rural Vermont communities, and grants from the Vermont Telecommunications Authority (VTA) allow us to do just that,” said Beth Fastiggi, FairPoint state president for Vermont. “We’re proud to help the state meet its broadband goals and look forward to more opportunities to bring broadband to Vermonters.”

The grant comes from the VTA. The VTA awarded Fairpoint two grants totaling $477,000 in 2013.

FairPoint says they provides residential speed options up to 15Mbps.
