BURLINGTON, Vt. - Thousands of Vermont families will have food on their tables this holiday season thanks in part to Friday's “Feed A Family” drive.
The week-long drive ended Friday morning at Burlington Hyundai. It was all to benefit the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf.
"This food drive in particular has really brought in a variety of food at a time at a time when we need it most,” said Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf Director Rob Meehan.
Proud sponsor FOX44/ABC22 reported live all day from the scene. The software company out of Winooski, MyWebGrocer also sponsored.
The numbers are impressive: $7,500 and nearly 7,000 pounds of donated items.
Even the world's most renowned giftgiver, Santa Claus, stopped by during his busiest week of the year.
Local Harley Davidson donated 120 pounds of food.
"There's a lot of people who are struggling to make ends meet. This added attention and awareness has helped us bring in much more food,” said Meehan.
After all, is there anything that represents holiday cheer more than giving?
