In Health Connections we all know checking your smart phone is a great way to stay connected but a new study says that it also creates more stress in your life.  Smart phones are supposed to make our lives easier "I have an Android... it's a memory and it does everything you could ever possible want it to do" says Becca Mosher of Colchester.

Anytime anywhere access to the Internet e-mail and endless amount of app's but a study published by  The British Psychological Society says this modern day technology is actually creating more stress.

Here's why; the study says when you use the phone for work the benefits of having work at your fingertips goes out the door with the pressure to stay on top of social media.  The study also says

if you have a smart phone you are more likely to constantly check alerts and listen for beeps because you "just have to know" what the latest e-mail text or status update says.

To give you a better idea of how many people this affects In 2009 18% of all U.S. mobile subscribers  owned a smart phone. Just two years later 44% owned a smart phone that's almost half of all cell phone subscribers.

According to the Mayo Clinic long term stress levels can put you at risk for things like heart disease digestive problems and depression.
