Ice Storm Damage Assessments Underway in VT

The Federal Farm Services office is now taking applications for ice storm damage to maple sugar makers.
MONTPELIER, Vt. - The Federal Farm Services office is now taking applications for ice storm damage to maple sugar makers.

A press release says the affected areas appear to be mainly in Lamoille, Orleans, Franklin, Chittenden and Washington counties.

The Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) funds can be used to cost-share debris removal in active sugar woods. The funding can also help move debris off tubing and open up sugaring access roads or trails.

Federal Farm Services say they are investigating whether funding can be used to help with maple tap and tube replacement for sugar bushes that were already prepared for this year's tapping.
