King Street Youth Center Temporarily Moving

The King Street Youth Center isn't leaving it's current building without saying goodbye.
BURLINGTON, Vt. -  The King Street Youth Center isn't leaving it's current building without saying goodbye.

An event dubbed write on the walls and dance in the halls is a way for people to celebrate the final days.

Children, teachers and supporters were encouraged to share their memories.

"I'm actually thinking about the ground breaking of this building and what that meant and how it reflected such a caring compassionate, community." Vicky Smith, Executive Director of the King Street Center, said.

"My favorite memory has got to be, everyday just coming in, hearing the preschoolers as I walk in," Dave Besserer Teen Futures Director, said. "Then walking down the halls and hearing the K-5 program. The laughter or the quiet studious work that they were doing."

The King Street Center will be re-built starting next year costing about $4.7 million.

Beginning in January, the center will move to it's temporary home at 179 South Winooski Avenue.
