Local Non-Profit Awarding Money to Help Ski & Sport Safety

RICHMOND, Vt. - A local non-profit is awarding big money to help further ski and sport safety.

The Kelly Brush Foundation gave more than $135,000. Some of the money will help buy netting for a few small clubs that could help buffer a fall.

Cochran's got some money along with Mad River Ski Club in Waitsfield, Vt. The rest will go to injured people who need adaptive gear to continue playing their favorite sport.

"Life is possible after a spinal cord injury and it can be fulfilling and fun and active. We have seen that time and time again," Betsy Cabrera, Executive Director of the Kelly Brush Foundation, said.

The foundation is named after Kelly Brush, who is paralyzed after hitting a lift tower in 2006.
