Man Recovering After I-89 Accident

A driver is in the hospital after an alcohol-related rollover on I-89.
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - A driver is in the hospital after an alcohol-related rollover on I-89. It happened just before noon near exit 13.

The driver, identified as James O'Brien, of Pennsylvania, was heading north when he rolled over several times into the median. Police say alcohol was a factor.

O'Brien was sent to Fletcher Allen Health Care with serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

"This was an ejection from the vehicle, and seat belts do save lives," Lt. James Whitcomb, of the Vermont State Police, said.

O'Brien was processed at the hospital for suspicion of DUI. Criminal charges are pending.
