New Plattsburgh Marina Could Be Voted on Next Week

The company to build a lakeside marina in Plattsburgh could be voted on by the Plattsburgh City Council as early as next week.
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The company to build a lakeside marina in Plattsburgh could be voted on by the Plattsburgh City Council as early as next week.

The marina would be located at the end of Dock Street by the Plattsburgh Boat Basin.

The city received two bids, the Boat Basin and an international firm.

The hope is to make the new marina a destination for boaters. The marina construction would be free for the city, in exchange for the lease.

"We would expect to give a probably a 10-year lease on the property probably to someone so that they could recapture the costs, any capital costs that would come in. We would also share some of the income," James Calnon, Plattsburgh Mayor, said.

Marina plans do include a restaurant. The city hopes to have the marina open for this summer's boating season.
