New Security Pods at Airports

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Next time you travel you may notice a strange new machine in airports. They're meant to replace security at exits, but are causing some confusion.

Hancock International in Syracuse has these new security doors, blocking the terminal from the public.

Here's how they work, you enter the machine and wait for the other door to open. They're made of bullet-proof glass and can hold up to 6 people each.

"They allow passengers, arriving passengers, to exit the secure area of the airport and it eliminates the need for us to have someone watching the exits," Christina Callahan, Commissioner at Hancock Airport, said. "When we were designing the project and we were trying to determine how we were going to design the exit we went and visited Atlantic City and we saw them in operation."

Exiting passengers can join the person in front of him or her, just like an elevator, but many seem to be going in separately causing some congestion.
