New York's Minimum Wage Increasing on Dec 31

New York's minimum wage is set to increase on December 31.
ALBANY, N.Y. - New York's minimum wage is set to increase on December 31.

The current wage is $7.25 and will go up $8 per hour.

"You're going to end up living with another family member because you can't support yourself on $8 an hour, or $7.25 an hour or ten dollars an hour," Lisa Armstrong, New Yorker earning minimum wage, said. "You just don't make enough money to pay the bills."

Advocates say a pay hike is a step in the right direction, but they'd like to see minimum wage tied to the cost of living.
