NWS: 66 Degree Temperature Swing Between Friday & Monday

The wacky weather we've been getting has some experts scratching their heads.
BURLINGTON, Vt. -  The wacky weather we've been getting has some experts scratching their heads.

The National Weather Service says between Friday and Monday there was a 66 degree difference. The last time there was that big of a swing was February 2009.

The length of the cold spell is also unusual.

"The duration of the cold we've had up to forty or fifty hours where we were below zero even in the Champlain Valley and it's been almost a decade since we've seen that long duration of temperatures below zero," Brooke Taber, National Weather Service Meteorologist, said.

That cold spell has lead to very low average temperatures for January. So far, the National Weather Service says it's below six degrees.
