Old Christmas Trees Can Help Vt. Boy Scouts

Now that Christmas is over, your tree can help the community and the Boy Scouts.
COLCHESTER, Vt. - Now that Christmas is over, your tree can help the community and the Boy Scouts.

The Boy Scouts will be collecting trees in Colchester next Saturday.

All you have to do is leave the tree at the end of your driveway. The scouts are suggesting a ten-dollar donation.

"The funding that we use the money for is sponsoring a kid to go to scout camp or go on high adventure to Philmont. We also sponsor kids who can't afford to be in scouting. So the money that we collect goes to those types of things," says Ken Bell, Troop 658 Scoutmaster.

The trees will be taken to the Chittenden Solid Waste District where the trees will be turned into fuel.

The scouts ask all the decorations including tinsel be taken off your tree.

To sign up, call (802) 655-6258.
