Parking Challenges in Montpelier, Vt.

A new report confirms what many people think, it's tough to park in downtown Montpelier.
MONTPELIER, Vt. - A new report confirms what many people think, it's tough to park in downtown Montpelier.

The city's parking committee has been looking into it since the spring.

It surveyed about 1,200 people and those included people who live, work, shop, or own a business there.

Most felt there was a parking problem in Montpelier. Many had concerns about the winter parking ban.

"A lot of folks don't have access to off-street parking and so from November to I believe April, you can't park on the streets of Montpelier. So that means a lot of folks have to find remote parking lots that they are allowed to park," says Nolan Langweil, member of the parking committee.

Now the committee is going to work on solving some of the problems. That includes possible changes to the winter parking ban, especially when the weather is not bad.
