Police Make Arrests in Recent Rutland Armed Robberies

RUTLAND, Vt. - Rutland Police made arrests Wednesday night in the recent convenience store armed robberies.

Police say they were called to Granger Street Market for a report of an armed robbery. The suspect demanded money from the clerk at knife point. Witnesses observed the suspect running to a silver Jeep Liberty parked in the vicinity of the market where the armed robbery occurred.

Rutland Police contacted the Vermont State Police for assistance due to the recent armed robberies in the city.

Police say they located a silver Jeep Liberty parked in the area of Cottage Street. Arabella Babcock and Patrick Blodgett were arrested on charges for their involvement in the Granger Market robbery.

Police believe Babcock and Blodgett were involved in other armed robberies at convenience stores over the past month. Those include:
  • January 4 armed robbery at West Street Mobil Station on West Street.
  • January 5 armed robbery at Mac's Convenience Store on North Main Street.
  • January 11 armed robbery at the Irving Mainway Station on South Main Street.
  • January 19 armed robbery at Beverage King on Crescent Street.
Babcock is charged with 4 counts of aiding in the commission of a felony. Babcock was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center for lack $75,000 bail.

Blodgett was charged with 5 counts of assault and robbery. He was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center for lack of $100,000 bail.

Babcock and Blodgett are scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
