ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. - Revision Military won a contract Monday to supply the U.S. Department of Defense with 90,000 advanced combat helmets.

A press release says the $21 million award will bring 43 jobs back to Newport, Vt., where the helmets are being manufactured.

"In addition to leveraging existing manufacturing technologies to deliver head protective solutions for today, we’re also shaping the future of soldier protection with innovative composite materials, new manufacturing processes and integrated designs."

Senator Patrick Leahy released this statement about Revision manufacturing helmets in Vermont:

"I’m proud of the key role that Vermonters have taken in making protection systems for our troops. With this contract Vermonters will continue to have access to good quality manufacturing jobs, and our men and women in the field will continue to have access to good quality protection in the field.”

The helmets will primarily be delivered during 2014 and 2015.
