Sally Fox's Husband Submits Name for Open Senate Seat

Senator Sally Fox's widower says he'd like to finish out her term in the Vermont Senate.
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Senator Sally Fox's widower says he'd like to finish out her term in the Vermont Senate.

Fox died January 10th after a battle with cancer.

Her husband Michael Sirotkin submitted his name to Chittenden Democrats Tuesday night.

Since then, Kesha Ram and Jake Perkinson have removed their names from final consideration.

Governor Peter Shumlin will get the final say on who fills the seat. He says he wants someone who will continue Fox's legacy of advocating for children and the poor.

"I'm thrilled Michael Sirotkin is interested in the job," Shumlin said. "As you know we just learned that. What I always look for is someone who can represent Chittenden County with distinction."

Chittenden County Democrats are meeting Wednesday night. They will choose 3 candidates to submit to the governor.
