If it's up to Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) minimum wage will be higher this year.
BURLINGTON, Vt. - If it's up to Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) minimum wage will be higher this year.

He heads back back to Washington on Saturday with a long list of priorities. He says congress has a chance to do it better this time around.

At his office in Burlington, Sen. Leahy talked about funding foreign aid programs, restoring unemployment insurance, passing the farm bill, the immigration bill, and improving public opinion of the Affordable Care Act.

"I have been meeting very, very quietly with Republicans and Democrats, both in the House and the Senate on it," Leahy said. "I'm more optimistic today, than I was even a week ago."

Sen. Leahy says he has faith in President Obama over the next two years.
