Thousands Check Out "First Night Burlington"

Despite cold temperatures, thousands of people checked out the 31st Annual First Night Burlington.
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Despite cold temperatures, thousands of people checked out the 31st Annual First Night Burlington.

"Are you trying to stay warm?" asked FOX 44/ABC 22's Matt Austin.

"Yeah, it's pretty cold," says Max Gilletz, visiting from Montreal.

The Gilletz family says it's their third time here.

"Is First Night a good thing to bring the family to?" asked Austin.

"100 percent. It's definitely a family event. Bring your kids, have a good time. It's worth the time coming down here," says Steven Gilletz.

You could find a hot spot at the Flynnspace. The "Queen City Hot Club" took the stage. That was one of dozens of performances during this festival of the arts.

First Night expected more than ten-thousand people to check out the events. That meant a lot of customers for businesses.

"It's pretty busy out here. The weather being what it is, still quite a bit of traffic for First Night," says Daniel Caudle, manager of Church & Main Restaurant.

Things got moving on Church Street. There was even a Dancing Dragons Parade which wound its way down the street to the delight of kids.
