Vermont House Gives Preliminary Approval to Budget Bill

The Vermont House gave preliminary approval to the mid-year budget adjustment bill.
The Vermont House gave preliminary approval Thursday to the mid-year budget adjustment bill.

It adds about $12 million to the $1.4 billion budget, which includes more money for out-of-state prison beds and more funds for homeless Vermonters.

"It makes additional investments in methadone treatment and recovery centers," Rep. Martha Heath (D-Westford) said. "On the transportation side, it provides almost $1.4 million for winter road maintenance."

The House is expected to pass the adjustment early Friday morning.
