Vermont Yankee Decommissioning Forum to be Held Monday Night

A forum to discuss the decommissioning of Vermont Yankee will be held Monday night.
MONTPELIER, Vt. - A forum to discuss the decommissioning of Vermont Yankee will be held Monday night.

A press release says the forum will have a panel discussion and question and answer session. The panel will discuss the transition, cleanup, long-term waste storage, and what role citizens can play in the process.

The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Montpelier.

Entergy, the company who owns Vermont Yankee, announced the plant closure at the end of August. Entergy said the decision was driven by sustained low power prices, high cost structure and wholesale electricity market design flaws for the Vermont Yankee plant.
