Prosecutors say they believe a woman was randomly stabbed in the lobby of the Hampton Inn in Littleton and later died.
They say 37-year-old Rodney Hill of West Danville Vt. was arrested and charged with two counts of 2nd degree murder in the death of 70-year-old Dr. Catherine "Kitty" Houghton.
Hill is accused of stabbing her in the neck and torso. He's being held without bail.
Police say they responded to a 911 call at approximately 8:50 p.m. When they arrived they saw Hill and took him into custody.
Prosecutors say Hill and Houghton had been guests at the hotel. They would not say how long they had been there or what might have brought them to Littleton.
They also would not comment about a possible motive.
