11.23.13 Near Record Cold Sunday

After snow showers Saturday night, near record cold moves in Sunday.
Brace yourself, a bitterly cold end to the weekend is on tap.

The snow showers and squalls that moved through Saturday night came along with a cold front. Behind that front winds will crank out of the Northwest, allowing cold Canadian air to pour into our area.

Highs on Sunday will be stuck in the teens and 20s! In fact, we'll be close to record low maximum temperatures for the date.

In Massena, NY and Burlington, VT the record low max temperature is 19. Sunday's highs will be near 22.

In St. Johnsbury, VT the record low max temperature is 20, with Sunday's high likely to be near 21.

Montpelier, VT has the best chance of setting a record. The expected high is 19, with the record low max on the books now being 20.

Add in a gusty northwest wind and it will feel more like the single digits! A Wind Advisory is in effect for areas outside of the Champlain Valley. Gusts will occasionally hit 40 or 50 mph.

The bitter blast lingers into Monday morning, when lows begin the day in the single digits, or even a little below zero in the Adirondacks.
