Fairly Average Winter So Far...

When looking at a certain statistic, this is shaping up to be a pretty typical winter season!

The critical number for this blog is 0.

When we look at how many days Burlington, VT (according to the airport data in S. Burlington) has fallen below zero degrees, it sticks out like a sore thumb!

This winter (so far): 14 times
Last winter: 7 times
Two winters ago: 3 times
Three winters ago: 10 times
Four winters ago: 8

And that is just *so far* with the potential for more subzero mornings/overnights.

However this is a fairly 'usual' winter, because according to the forecast office for the NWS in Burlington, BTV falls below zero degrees 18 times each year. So if we have had 14 occurrences with still some time left in our calendar, I'd say this has been a more 'typical' winter 'round here!
