An Alburgh man is facing charges after police say he broke into cars at The Edge gym in South Burlington.

Police say last month multiple items were stolen from cars, including two purses and a laptop, at the gym on Twin Oaks Terrace.

The windows were smashed in two of the cars.

Officers were able to locate the laptop because it was being sold on social media, leading them to Richard Rayta.

The 31-year-old is now facing charges for the thefts. He’s currently being held by the Department of Corrections in Swanton on similar charges.

Rayta is expected to appear in court in January.
