According to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, an Alton man died while hiking the Fishin’ Jimmy trail in Lincoln.

A release states around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday evening, Fish and Game Officials were notified of a hiker experiencing a medical problem on the trail.

67-year-old Stephen Barsanti from Alton, NH was hiking with his wife when he collapsed and lost consciousness. Barsanti’s wife performed CPR.

They were about a half mile from the AMC Lonesome Lake Hut when another couple hiking stopped to help Barsanti’s wife. One stayed and one continued to the Hut to get help. AMC personnel assisted with CPR upon arrival.

Officials said Barsanti never regained consciousness and died on the trail.

The New Hampshire Fish and Wildlife Department encourage hikers to purchase a voluntary Safe Card. The card helps Fish and Game Search and Rescue activities.
