People in Barre City are being urged to conserve water, thanks to the dry weather.
The voluntary conservation notice went into effect mid-August.
The Dix Reservoir in Orange is Barre City’s drinking water source.
The 650 million gallon reservoir has dropped one inch since people were first asked to conserve last month.
Drinking Water Filitration Plant Operator Jacob Drown says this is a precaution. The reservoir is currently four feet over the conservation requirement.
“Most of the capacity is within the first four feet so now that it’s getting down, each inch is less and less,” said Drown.
Drown says the city has not issued a notice like this in at least the last few years.
