A New Hampshire Senate Committee is discussing a bill that relates to data privacy in the workplace
According to the bill, an employer has the right to possess and control its own data and devices, while simultaneously protecting an employee’s legitimate expectation of privacy with his or her own personal data and devices.
The bill would not allow an employer to have access to an employee’s accounts, personal data and information, monitor or review the data. This includes personal data that is mixed with employer data.
Both the employer and employee would have the ability to request any data or devices that belong to each other. They would be able to charge for the request, as long as the information was not collected illegally.
It’s currently in the Commerce Committee.
