A chemical spill forced the YMCA in Burlington to evacuate and close for the day on Friday.
According to officials at the Y, an employee noticed a leaking pipe in an auxiliary room that services the pool.
The media release says the liquid on the floor was a mixture of water and muriatic acid, which is used to balance the PH levels in the pool.
Officials say the building was evacuated and the employees and children attending the childcare programs want to the “Y” annex.
According to the media release Burlington firefighters were able to neutralize the spill.
The YMCA is expected to reopen on Saturday morning.
