Police are investigating reports of gunshots fired New Year’s Eve in the Queen City.

Police say multiple witnesses heard what they described as gunshots just after 4pm Monday near Manhattan Drive and North Champlain Street.

However – officers never found anyone injured or direct evidence of gunfire.

“We don’t believe there is any cause for public alarm or concern based on this, as I said we don’t really know whether there was in fact a discharge of a firearm. We want to confirm whether there was because even the possibility is unacceptable to us,” Deputy Chief Jon Murad said.

Police say – an eyewitness described an orange vehicle with black rims and a driver who may have fired shots out over the Intervale.

According to police, it is illegal to fire a gun within Burlington City limits.

Police urge you to call with any information.
