Camp worker arrested after entering the wrong cabin


A 20-year-old camp counselor has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly returning to the children’s campground intoxicated and entering the wrong cabin.

Nicholas D. Maroney, 20, of Perry, was observed by other staff and campers exiting the occupied bunk of a seven-year-old female camper in the morning.

At this point there is no report of sexual contact, New York State Police report.

Maroney was arrested without incident and arraign in the Town of Castile Court. He was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of bail or bond.
