New data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), ranks New Hampshire third in the nation for drug overdose deaths.
According to the report, 39 out of every 100,000 people in New Hampshire died from an overdose in 2016. The national average for the year, was nearly half that.
Senator Maggie Hassan released a statement in response saying in part, “This report is yet another painful reminder of how much work we still must do to save lives and turn the tide of the opioid crisis.”
Senator Jeanne Shaheen echoed her statement saying in part, “Each overdose death reflected in this report is a life taken too soon, a family devastated, and a community in mourning.”
