COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Colchester Police Department has found its next top cop.
According to town manager Aaron Frank, Lt. Doug Allen will be promoted to chief.
He will be only the fourth chief in the department's 50 year history.
“’Doug Allen knows the community, the police officers, schools, emergency services and town government. He recently helped Chief Morrison and the Manager’s office implement changes including community social workers, a new employee evaluation process, reduction of vehicle sizes, and coordinated capital planning. Doug has studied and exercised leadership in emergency situations and as acting chief. He is calm under pressure, understands community needs and how to leverage the needs of emergency services in a crisis,” Frank said.
Allen has been working for the Colchester Police Department since 1984.
He's replacing Jennifer Morrison when she retires next month.
Lt. Allen starts August 10th.
