Both teams hit a pair of home runs but Connecticut Tigers out-slugged the Vermont Lake Monsters 7-6 Wednesday night at Centennial Field. With the win, Connecticut is now just a half game behind Stedler Division-leading Vermont in the New York-Penn League standings.
The game also serves as the debut for the Lake Monsters new temporary clubhouse. After a fire damaged the preexisting locker room, the team was forced to turn a storage garage into Vermont’s newest locker room.
The Lake Monsters and Tigers will play again on Thursday night in the second of a three-game series. The winner in tomorrow’s game will take over the division’s lead.
