New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is threatening to sue federal immigration officials over the actions of some Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

During a raid last week at a farm in Rome, New York, agents detained a worker without a warrant.

That worker was later arrested and is still in custody.

The Governor says the actions by ICE are a serious disregard of the law and endangering public safety.

“We’re going to put them on notice today that if they continue, the state will sue them. Period.” Said Governor Andrew Cuomo. “The state has the responsibility of upholding the constructional rights of the people who live in New York.”

Cuomo also signed an executive order prohibiting ICE arrests without a warrant.

The commissioner of the state’s Department of Agriculture says the raids have left farm families fearful and angry.
