Patricia Rooney was a wife, mother and sister, who went missing back in the December leaving all of her personal belongings behind. Friday night her family is mourning her loss.
Her family said she struggled with depression for months prior to her disappearance.
On Wednesday a body was located on the banks of the Winooski River.
It was later identified as Patricia.
Now all her family is left with is the memory of a woman who her sister says was the life of the party.
“Not too many people had as many friends as her,” Patricia’s sister Laurie Kotorman said. “She was an incredible social person and was the connector is how I think of her, Hey Lau, its Friday night. I’ve called all these people and they’re going to meet us here at 6 o’clock so let’s go.”
They were just 13 months apart in age.
“She was one of my best friend so of course it was really hard,” Kotorman said.
Patricia’s family is incredibly grateful for all the people who helped look for her over the past four months.
“People just reaching out was just overwhelmingly beautiful and soothed our souls and made are hearts happy to know how many people love Patricia because that was really propelling our energy forward was how much she was loved and that makes us feel so good to know how much she was loved,” Kotorman said.
Now she is left to look back on the many fond memories of she has with her sister.
“Cupcakes, Patricia loved making cupcakes, I’m not very good at it and I will in Patricia’s honor,” she said.
Kotorman said there will forever be a hole in her heart.
“I don’t know who could fill those shoes, but were going to try to keep her spirit going and keep doing things that she loved and remember her that way,” said Kotorman.
The family says they are thankful to finally have closure.
“That she’s at peace and she’s resting and that we know where she is,” Kotorman said.
