Vermont Farm to School program gets federal grant

News

Vermont’s Farm to School food programs are getting a boost.

The state will receive more than $100,000 from the federal government so schools can purchase more of their food from local farms.

Sen. Patrick Leahy says the grant from the US Department of Agriculture will strengthen programming in 20 schools in Franklin and Grand Isle counties.

The award was part of more than $9 million in USDA grants to more than 120 projects in 42 states.
