BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Fletcher Free Library stayed open on the 4th of July to be used as a cooling station.

The doors were open from noon to 4 pm for people to come in and cool down.

“We saw on the weather that it was going to be a very hot day so we thought it’d be nice to open as a cooling place for folks. Usually we’re open 7 days a week anyways, so even during the other times when it’s hot the library is a great place to come,” said Mary Danko, Fletcher Free Library director.

The library stayed open on holidays last year including July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
