Monday was is a special day here at Local 22 and Local 44 News.

It’s Founder’s Day, marking the beginning of our parent company Nexstar Media Group.

Each year employees at all Nexstar stations across the country volunteer in their communities.

This year we choice to help Camp Ta-Kum-Ta!

From mowing, to painting, sanding, and gardening the team got their hands dirty, helping out with various projects at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta in South Hero, a summer camp for kids with cancer.

30 members of the team worked on various projects around the more than 100-acre camp.

Our committee for Day of Caring got together and talked about a lot of different organization here in our community. Camp Ta-Kum-Ta really shot to the top of the list because they provide a place where kids who are dealing with the unimaginable have a place to be normal and be kids, said Founder’s Day of Caring organizer Amanda Thibault.

Camp Ta-Kum-Ta has been serving kids with cancer for nearly 35 years.
