Freight train derails near New York-Vermont border

Emergency crews are working to clean up the scene of a freight train derailment near the New York-Vermont border.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office says three propane tankers derailed and rolled over in Hoosick, New York, about 8 miles west of Bennington, Wednesday night.

Officials say no injuries or leaks in the tanks were reported.

State authorities evacuated residents from nearby homes as a precaution while New York State Police and environmental officials investigated.

The Department of Transportation is working to determine the cause of the derailment.

Crews remained on scene through the night Wednesday.
