Gift Wrapping Helps Local Homeless Shelter


Gift wrapping, it’s an annual tradition for one local group helping the homeless.

ANEW Place is hosting its 23rd Helping Hands Gift Wrap at the University Mall in South Burlington.

ANEW Place is a local homeless shelter that also helps reintegrate folks back into the community. The goal this year to raise $10 thousand dollars.

More than 150 volunteers help man the booth where you can have just about anything wrapped.

“We have really made this into a family thing, my mom is here, her mom is here, our aunt is here and then my cousin this is my fifth year, “said Carrie Eyer, volunteer.

Shannon Hennessey added, “This time of year it is really hard to set aside the time and think about other people other than yourself so it is something that gives back to the community and I get to spend time with my family.”

The wrapping booth is located in the food court and will remain open through Christmas Eve.
