Days after his sudden passing, fans continue to honor music legend Tom Petty.
Thursday afternoon, South Burlington concert venue Higher Ground announced it would host a Tom Petty Tribute concert on October 26.
Mitchell Parrish is the venue’s marketing manager.
The Tom Petty fan says the concert will be “the night to celebrate Tom Petty in the area.”
Parrish explains the concert will is led by local musicians Lowell Thompson and Bob Wagner. Several special guests are also slated to perform as one collective band together.
“So I think pretty much every musician in town is gonna come and collaborate,” said Parrish.
This isn’t the first time such a tribute concert has been put on at Higher Ground.
The venue did something similar when musician, Prince died.
“When Prince passed last year, that was a pretty easy call, this one is a little more unique because we were putting a band together instead of getting a band that already existed,” said Parrish.
Details are still coming together, but Parrish says at least a portion of proceeds will go a charity, still to be determined.
“The main thing is getting the band together, and then doing what they want to do. I mean, this is about paying tribute to one of the greatest musicians of all time. It’s a somber tone, but it’s also a happy tone because of how much joy his music’s brought to us these years,” said Parrish.
The concert is Thursday, October 26; doors are at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8:00 p.m.
Pre-sale tickets are $20, and $23 at the door.
